Thanksgiving 1929

I made this Modern Thanksgiving menu to the letter yesterday! Well--I thought about what it would be like to try to make it. The chestnut-potato balls with surprise oysters are far beyond my abilities. Actually all of it probably is. Fortunately, I was not in charge of dinner.
I did try to make the persimmons. All you do is cut the top off and put it on ice. Impossible to mess up, right? Not if you (meaning me) don't have a clue whether a persimmon is ripe or not. I sincerely hope an unripe persimmon never darkens your doorstep. Le Scream le EEK.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

I love old cookbooks so much. It's hard to imagine there was a time when everyone knew what "ham forcemeat" was (presumably). What the hell is that anyway?
